My name is Michael Palermo, I am a yoga teacher living in the Asheville, North Carolina area. I started practicing yoga almost 20 years ago. Several years back, I realized that yoga can help with personal growth and healing, beyond just the benefits of the physical practice. I began studying the spiritual side of yoga – meditation, good conduct towards others, personal spiritual observances.
The physical practice, of course, helps keep me fit as I enter my late 40’s. But it’s the combination of physical and spiritual fitness that I want to share with others through class and individual instruction. I enjoy teaching beginners, especially those who come to yoga later in life like I did, and those who want to deepen their practice no matter what their ability.
For over 20 years I worked in offices and high rises in Chicago. After a year’s sabbatical in the wilderness of Idaho, I’ve recently transplanted to the mountains of North Carolina. I have been an attorney since 1992. I previously taught law school, and now am bringing that experience to teaching yoga. I took my 200 hour teacher training at Yogaview – Chicago, where I studied with, and took classes with some of the best vinyasa teachers in the country.
