We met a man in the Pecos Wilderness the other day. He told us about the wildfire down the canyon and that he and his wife were booking it out of their campsite. He said they lived a block away from the Moore tornado in OK last week and watched it tear through their neighborhood and destroy thousands of lives. They escaped unharmed (physically).
Now they were fleeing a second natural disaster in two weeks – an out of control raging fire. He said they were going to drive back to OK, take their time, maybe two, three days. He and his wife would have arrived just in time for yesterday’s tornado just outside OK City.
No moralizing here about journeys and difficulties. Just keep your eyes open and keep moving forward. Also, don’t camp near the wildfire.
